India : Christians attacked and tortured in Uttar Pradesh

On Sunday the 15th of March a party of around thirty Hindu extremists from the Bajrang Dal accompanied by uniformed police officers interrupted a worship service that was held in Kunda (Pratapgarh district) on the grounds of the house of Pastor Indresh Kumar Gautam.

The attackers, armed with hockey sticks and iron bars, attacked the faithful present in the house. On the grounds that the Christians were making forced conversions, the assailants stole and destroyed equipment, under the watchful eye of the police.

Five of the worshippers, including the pastor, were driven to the police station where they were subjected to a torture session carried out by high-ranked police officers that lasted for more than three hours. The pastor was beaten until he fell to the ground.
