A film about Copts murdered by jihadists in Libya to be released in Egypt
In Egypt, the shooting of the film "Martyrs of Faith and the Nation", dedicated to the memory of twenty Copts and their companions from Ghana, murdered in 2015 by jihadists from the Islamic State.
The filming was supposed to start in January, but it was postponed – as it turned out – for half a year due to a coronavirus pandemic. The gathering of materials and testimonies has been going on for a long time. The script includes stories of martyr families, almost all of whom come from the Samalut region.
The film is to show not only the scene of the murder but also their daily lives before death as well as the situation of their families, marked by the hardships, hopes and desires of a better future.
It is for these reasons that these young copts decided to go to Libya in search of decent and useful work to support their loved ones.
