Boko Haram is recruiting child soldiers again
Boko Haram was founded in Nigeria in 2002, by Mohammad Yusuf. In 2009, the group turned fully against the government and started carrying out violent attacks against the non-Muslim minorities. In their attacks, they usually deploy child soldiers, and do not shy away from sacrificing them to kill as many unbelievers as possible.
International Christian Concern writes about recent research, according to which many of the Boko Haram soldiers are children. The group recruits younger children to act as suicide bombers, and older children, many of whom are already victims of the group’s violence, as soldiers or suicide bombers. They promise these children protection, purpose, food and security in return for their services.
There are also many kidnapped boys and young adults who are forced to fight on the side of the terrorist group, usually against their own families. These children are not promised to have a better future; they fight to escape from a bloody execution.
The Nigerian government and the whole world needs to pay attention to this abuse and must stop these terrorists from using and killing so many young people.
