Three people killed by Islamic radical in France
In the latest knife attack near the Basilica of Notre-Dame in Nice, three are dead while others have sustained injuries. The attacker was shot and then arrested. The attack started inside the church on Thursday the 29th of October.
The perpetrator decapitated the faithful, killing two on the spot; the third victim died of his wounds sometime later. A team of snipers had arrived at the scene because a suspicious package was found in the vicinity of the incident. Armed police arrested the perpetrator who was later hospitalised with a gunshot wound inflicted during his capture.
The mayor of the city, Christian Estrosi, arrived at the scene of the attack and confirmed that all indications were those of a terrorist attack in the Notre-Dame Basilica. The bomber kept repeating “Allahu Akbar” during the arrest.
The President and Prime minister also travelled to Nice. There was a minute of silence in the National Assembly in honour of the victims of the new attack.
