New report shows rise of anti-Catholic vandalism across the US
According to US History, the Conference of American Bishops has a documented over one hundred cases of vandalism against Catholic places of worship and monuments since May 2020.
These are “tragic to obscene” cases, it was confirmed on the 14th of October that we found Cardinal Timothy Dolan and Archbishop Paul Coakley, chairman of the Religious Freedom and Justice Commission, to have occurred.
Even if the perpetrators consider their actions as retaliation for errors committed by the Church in the past, “this destruction must end”, the German Catholic agency KNA quoted in a statement. The bishops are ready to “extend their hand in prayer and reconciliation.”
At the same time, they called on politicians to condemn the attacks and thanked the judicial authorities for handling each case separately.
